Every year we look forward to adventuring to various festivals throughout North America and even across the pond. Each one offers a unique atmosphere, filled with excitement and colour, but DragCon is always a stand out. While serving up fantasy and proving there are no limits to your imagination, DragCon also provides a safe-space for people to express themselves or just “be”. It also provides attendees with the opportunity to meet their favourite drag queens from around the world, attend panel discussions, see a myriad of live performances (including RuPaul DJ’ing) and visit LGBTQ+ businesses to check out their merchandise.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 DragCon LA could no longer be held at the Los Angeles Convention Centre, but this event had too much tenacity to let things end there. Adapting to the current state of the world, DragCon rolled out the pink, glittery carpet to the digital-sphere making the event accessible to everyone on YouTube. For two days, DragCon brought together iconic drag talent to provide us hours of entertainment including lip syncs, panels, mini shows and quarantine editions of some of the most iconic drag performances of all time including: Read U Wrote U from RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars Season 3 and Break Up, Bye Bye by the Frock Destroyers.
